Surface Pattern Designer / Artist

Position Overview

We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Surface Pattern Designer/Artist to join our design team. The ideal candidate will have a strong artistic vision and the ability to create unique, marketable, and trend-driven surface patterns for textiles and apparel. This role requires a combination of artistic talent, technical expertise, and an understanding of consumer trends.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design & Development

    • Create original surface pattern designs, illustrations, and motifs suitable for textiles, apparel, and accessories.

    • Develop repeat patterns, placement prints, and engineered designs that align with brand aesthetics.

    • Adapt designs to fit different products, colorways, and fabric types.

  • Trend Research & Inspiration

    • Research global design trends, color forecasts, and consumer preferences.

    • Generate mood boards, concept presentations, and seasonal design themes.

    • Translate artistic inspiration into commercially viable designs.

  • Technical Execution

    • Prepare print-ready files with accurate repeats, color separations, and technical specifications.

    • Maintain organized design libraries, artwork files, and pattern archives.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Textile Design, Fashion Design, Fine Arts, Graphic Design, or a related field.

  • Proven experience in surface pattern design, preferably in fashion, home décor, or lifestyle industries.

  • Strong portfolio showcasing original artwork, repeats, and applied surface designs.

  • Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Procreate, or CAD tools.

  • Excellent sense of color, composition, and pattern layout.

  • Ability to balance creativity with commercial appeal.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

  • Knowledge of textile printing techniques (screen printing, digital printing, block printing, etc.) is a plus.

  • Passion for art, textiles, and storytelling through design.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.

  • Keen eye for detail and dedication to quality.

  • Flexibility to adapt designs for different markets and cultural aesthetics.

Job Type & Compensation

  • Type: Full-time (10 AM to 08 PM, 6 Days a Week)

  • Location: On-site at Mirpur DOHS

  • Compensation: Competitive, based on experience and portfolio
